Mary’s “Yes” by Russ Clodfelter

Shalom and Peace be with you my dear friends. Let us look at Mary's response to the Angel Gabriel after he informs her she has been chosen to be the mother of the Messiah. From Luke 1:38, I am the Lord's servant, Mary answered, May your word to me be fulfilled. Praise be the Word. I love this verse because Mary gives us one of the strongest examples of what it means to be a willing and committed witness for Jesus. Think about it, Mary is a teenage girl facing uncertainty, questions, and a future she did not plan, but when God spoke, her answer was not fear, excuses or hesitation. Her answer was availability. She basically said: Lord, I do not know everything you are doing, I don't understand the whole picture, but I trust You enough to say YES. That's what a real witness looks like, a committed witness doesn't wait until life feels stable. A willing witness doesn't wait until they understand every detail. A strong witness says, God, whatever You ask, I am Yours. We need that spirit today, A world in chaos needs believers who are steady. A world drowning in noise needs Christians who stand firm, A world filled with fear needs witnesses filled with faith. You may think your yes is small, but God uses willing hearts to accomplish eternal things. Mary said yes and God used her to bring our Savior into the world. What could God do with our yes today? Let this be our declaration: Lord, I am Your servant, use me. Now with the full authority of Jesus Christ, let us go boldly reaching out to others in love, becoming His hands and feet in a world that so desperately needs Him. Thank you and God bless you!
